Let us deliver direct to you
“Hi, I would like to compliment you on 1st Class service. I placed an order yesterday about lunch time and just had it delivered! Thank you very much”. Colin and Elaine Smith
As ever, we provide swift delivery to anywhere in the UK
Standard delivery is £6.95 (for up to 20Kg) – place your order before 11am we’ll aim to dispatch same day to arrive the ‘next day’ *
(DPD charge more for delivery to UK Highlands, Islands and some Scottish postcodes; some of these are a 2 day service)
*Special offer: Free P&P if you spend a minimum of £75 (UK Mainland)*
We deliver to the UK mainland using a courier service to transport your parcels. UK orders are dispatched Monday to Thursday. If we receive your order before 11am on these days we will dispatch ‘same day’ so you will receive it ‘next day’. If we receive your order between 11am Thursday and 11am Monday, it will be dispatched on Monday for delivery to you on Tuesday. These restrictions are in place to avoid our parcels being delayed over the weekends.
We can’t dispatch on Bank Holidays.
UPDATE to our service October 2021: – let’s reduce our carbon footprint
Our courier, DPD have stopped trying to deliver the same parcels a number of times if you are not at home when they first call. This is to reduce the amount of carbon emissions with multiple attempts back and fore which could be avoided. If you provide your mobile phone number plus email address when you place your order with us, the DPD system will alert you to your delivery estimated time of arrival ahead of time. (Both a text and an email if these have been provided).
If you aren’t at home when they call, they will take your parcel to your local pick-up point. You will receive a message to inform you of this location and you can collect it at your convenience. The DPD message will provide a security code which you’ll need when you collect the parcel. If this is not collected within 7 days, we will pay for it to be returned to us and the consumables disposed of. We will reuse the packaging and ice packs where we can.
In this instance, I am afraid we cannot resend a replacement unless you place a new order with us.
OUR ADVICE:
Add a 'Leave safe' message in the delivery instructions when you place an order.
The driver will then know to leave in porch/ back door/ behind the bin etc rather than whisk your parcel to a Pick Up Shop if you're not at home or don't hear the door bell.
Should your parcel not arrive when expected please let us know and we will investigate. Please be sure to quote your order number in all correspondence as this will help speed up the investigation.
You must inform us within 24 hours if the goods are damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt call to the delivery company. We will do our best to rectify the situation promptly and to your satisfaction.
In December our online business increases considerably for Christmas and all couriers throughout the UK are stretched. With this in mind, we encourage our customers to order in plenty of time to ensure orders are delivered in time for Christmas. During December delays are more likely to occur.
We always have a ‘last dispatch’ date for Christmas, this is usually about a week before Christmas to ensure deliveries are in time for the Christmas period and this date is advertised on our website throughout December.
We’ve been reviewing our mail order packaging and replacing lots of items with more eco-friendly alternatives. This has proved to be a tricky task as the maintenance of cheese quality during transit has had to remain a priority too.
It’s work in progress for sure, and we will continue to improve as more environmentally kinder materials evolve. At least we have started 2020 with some lovely green improvements.
A bit of background info…
We’ve eliminated all use of polystyrene (yes, a horrible material but to be fair had excellent light-weight and insulation properties…perfect for sending out our cheese in order to keep it cool and minimise transport costs). During the hot summer of 2018 we trialled recycled & recyclable cardboard boxes combined with ‘green’ bubble wrap, air cushions and potato starch ‘peanuts’. We replaced our small ‘ice’ strips with larger Ice Mats which can be reused.
To summarise, here’s what you can do with your mail order packaging:
ICE MAT – please reuse! Reuse by re-freezing to help keep other things cold (such as food, drinks or even injuries!). Alternatively, contents can be disposed of into the sink drain and packaging recycled as LDPE4. Do not consume.
AIR CUSHIONS – 100% biodegradable. Reuse or deflate and recycle.
STARCH ‘PEANUTS’ or ‘CHIPS’ – 100% biodegradable and sustainable. Made from plant starch, these can be composted or dug into the garden as a soil improver. Otherwise pop in to your ‘green’ bin.
CARDBOARD BOX – Who doesn’t find a cardboard box useful?! AND another favourite for a little one and of course, a cat! Otherwise, please recycle.
