Selecting our cheese at 6 months old, we cold-smoke it for at least 24 hours. No dying, painting or injecting ‘smoke’ flavour here. And you’ll notice the difference.

Our naturally smoked cheese is a revelation that we are delighted to be able to share. The same applies to tasting its soft and subtle, almost honey-like sweetness. Absolutely everything here is 100% natural.

When we say smoking, we mean smoking. Our cheese sits above the smoke produced from smouldering (old whisky barrel) chippings!  Some of our customers say they can detect the hint of whisky….

This process is gentle, subtle and takes many hours to impart a rather special smoke taste; think bonfire night or wood-burning stoves. The taste is incomparable.

Our Oak Smoked Cheddar is award-winning, having won First Prize & overall Champion at The Devon County Show in 2018.  Only Second prize at the 2019 Devon County Show… we’re still very proud of that!

As with all our cheeses- enjoy on its own with your favourite chutney or pickles. Then again – this cheese lends itself to a special raclette-style melting feast or, simply melted on top of sourdough bread for the best cheese on toast in the world! You could even slip in a few cubes to make a sumptuous sauce for fish pie…
